団体紹介（だんたいしょうかい） About Sakura International Choir

代表挨拶 Greeting of the President

　初めまして。SIC代表の師井美穂と申します。私たちSICの設立メンバーは日本語教員です。福岡県北九州市を中心に活動しています。
　この度、私たちはかねてよりの夢であった留学生を中心とした合唱団を結成しました。私たちは日本に来てくれた留学生のみなさんを心より歓迎しています。私たちは留学生のみなさんに日本でたくさんの有意義な時間や経験を持ってほしいと考えています。
　私たちは「音楽の力」を信じています。
「音楽の力」この言葉の真意を私に教えてくれたのは昨年他界した父との時間でした。病床で動けなくなった父の灰色の世界を彩り豊かな世界に変えてくれたのは音楽でした。父と私は音楽に救われました。
　音楽はささやかな日常の中に彩り豊かな「感動」を生みます。私たちはそんな「感動」を留学生のみなさんと共有したいと考えています。
　みなさんの大切な「今このとき」を音楽という手段で楽しく意義あるものにし、そして明日への「希望」となるよう、私たちSICは誠意を持って活動していきます。
　みなさんの参加を心よりお待ちしています。

Nice to meet you. My name is Miho Moroi, and I am the president of SIC. Our founding members are Japanese language teachers. We are active mainly in Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture.
We have recently formed a choir focused on international students, which has been our long-held dream. We warmly welcome all the international students who have come to Japan. We hope that international students will have many meaningful times and experiences while in Japan.
We believe in the "power of music".
The true meaning of this phrase was taught to me through my time with my father, who passed away last year. It was music that transformed my father's grey world, where he could no longer move due to illness, into a vibrant one. Both my father and I were saved by music.
Music generates vibrant feelings of "emotion" within our modest daily lives. We wish to share such "emotion" with all of you international students.
We aim to make your precious "now" enjoyable and meaningful through the medium of music, and to serve as a "hope" for tomorrow. We at SIC will carry out our activities with sincerity.
We sincerely look forward to your participation.

　SIC副代表の宮城と申します。日本語学校の教員をしつつ、この団体の創立時より運営に携わっています。
　私はかつて東京での大学生時代、ドイツ語とドイツ文学を学びました。またその後、オーストリアの首都ウィーンに留学し、音楽家を始めとする多くの芸術家に触れ合う機会を持ちました。そのような経験からこれまで、言語や芸術は人生にとってどのような意義を持つのかという問いを抱え続けて来ました。
　そうした中、SIC代表の師井よりこの団体の立ち上げメンバーに誘われることになります。団体設立のきっかけとなったのは、映画『アングリーバードとバナナ合唱団』で知ったキム・チェチャン氏の活動です。彼はインドのスラム街に住む貧しい子どもたちを訪ね、彼らを合唱への参加に促すことによって希望をもたらしていました。芸術とは単に先人の作品を引き継ぐことではなく、自分なりのやり方でそれに応答しようとすることである。そう教えられた気がしました。国際合唱団の結成は、私たちなりの応答の仕方だと考えます。
　SICに集い歌うメンバーは、主にアジア諸国からの留学生たちです。私は日本語学校で彼らに日本語を教えながら、彼らが日本の社会により広く深く関わりうる機会を提供できないかと模索していました。この合唱団の活動によって、彼らが日本という異国の地で心の拠りどころを見出すと共に、彼らの人生に多種多様な彩りが与えられることを願います。
　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　 I am Miyagi, the vice president of SIC. While working as a teacher at a Japanese language school, I have been involved in the operation of this organisation since its establishment.
During my university days in Tokyo, I studied German and German literature. After that, I studied abroad in Vienna, Austria, where I had the opportunity to interact with many artists, including musicians. Through such experiences, I have continued to ponder the significance of language and art in life.
In that context, I was invited by Moroi, the president of SIC, to become a founding member of this organisation. The catalyst for its establishment was the activities of Mr. Kim Jae-Chang, whom I learned about from the film 'Singing with Angry Bird'. He brought hope by visiting poor children living in the slums of India and encouraging them to participate in choir. Art is not merely about inheriting the works of predecessors, but rather responding to them in one's own way. I thought it was his message. The formation of the international choir is our way of responding.
The members of SIC who gather to sing are mainly international students from Asian countries. While teaching them Japanese at the language school, I have been searching for ways to provide them with opportunities to engage more broadly and deeply with Japanese society. Through the activities of this choir, I hope they find a sense of belonging in this foreign land and that their lives are enriched with diverse colours.
